Micromentor Transitions to Capital for Good, Expanding Access to Global Entrepreneurial Mentorship
Portland, Ore. – After 15 years as an integral part of Mercy Corps’ Innovations Portfolio, Micromentor, the world’s largest community of entrepreneurs and business mentors, will transition to operate under Capital for Good, a part of Global Impact Ventures, effective April 1, 2025. This move marks a pivotal step in Micromentor’s evolution, enabling it to expand its mentorship model as a social enterprise and scale its impact to reach over one million entrepreneurs by 2027.
Micromentor has engaged nearly 500,000 underserved entrepreneurs and volunteer mentors worldwide, operating in over 180 countries and in six languages. Through its free global mentorship platform and mobile app, Micromentor has provided access to critical business resources for over 370,000 entrepreneurs with the support of 110,000 volunteer mentors.
Anita Ramachandran, who has served as Executive Director for the past 10 years, will continue to lead Micromentor as Chief Executive Officer to further amplify its efforts to break down barriers to small business success and strengthen the ecosystems that support entrepreneurs.
“This move enables us to deepen our impact by expanding mentoring-as-a-service to organizations working with entrepreneurs worldwide,” said Ramachandran. “We believe in a future where mentoring is a fundamental part of small business success, and this transition sets us up to realize that vision on an even greater scale.”
Empowering Entrepreneurs Through Mentorship
Entrepreneurs worldwide have credited Micromentor’s platform with transforming their businesses and careers.
“Mentoring has been crucial for the growth of my business. It’s amazing to workshop ideas with an astute businessperson who is rooting for me,” said Cera Murchuria, founder of Ecodunia, a social enterprise in Kenya. With guidance from multiple Micromentor mentors, Murchuria grew from being a solo entrepreneur to employing more than nine people and opening a flagship store in Chicago.
Micromentor’s platform is uniquely positioned to scale entrepreneurial support across borders, offering a proven, technology-driven solution for mentoring at scale. Its focus on designing for inclusivity—especially for women entrepreneurs—aligns with broader efforts to advance gender equity and climate resilience through economic empowerment.
As Micromentor embarks on this next chapter, it is actively seeking engagement from funders, partners, and organizations that work with networks of entrepreneurs. Businesses, nonprofits, and corporate partners interested in leveraging mentoring to enhance small business success are encouraged to collaborate with Micromentor.
