| The MicroMentor Affiliate
Program Agreement is designed to offer a framework and guidelines
for the Affiliate/MicroMentor relationship, as well as outline
clear expectations for both sides. The MicroMentor Team is committed
to helping you and your clients have an excellent experience with
the program, and our hope is to work collaboratively with you
to grow a vast support network for microentrepreneurs. Thanks
for working with us!
Guiding Principles: We ask that all participants treat others
within the MicroMentor community with respect, and that an honest
effort is put into each mentoring relationship established.
What Affiliates Can Expect
of MicroMentor
- MicroMentor is responsible for developing and maintaining
the underlying technology platform powering the service, and
for managing the overall MicroMentor community.
- MicroMentor provides national marketing of the program and
is responsible for building the national network of entrepreneurs
and business volunteers.
- MicroMentor will provide each Affiliate with an account
lead who is there to promptly answer your questions and provide
support at any step along the way.
- MicroMentor will provide reports detailing the activity
of Affiliate clients upon request.
- MicroMentor provides priority customer service and support
to Affiliate clients.
- MicroMentor will work with Affiliates to market the program
locally and encourage local press coverage.
What MicroMentor Expects of Affiliates
Without the active engagement of Affiliate staff,
the ability for MicroMentor to provide value to your clients is
limited. We look to Affiliate staff to act as ambassadors for
MicroMentor within your organization and your local community.
Specifically, we ask that Affiliate staff:
- Actively recruit new clients, helping them to enroll in
MicroMentor and get started with the service.
- Support your clients in being active and positive participants
in the MicroMentor community, encouraging them to reply to
mentoring offers in a timely fashion, put forth a good faith
effort to each mentoring relationship, and respond to MicroMentor
match feedback and program evaluation requests.
- Assist your clients in resolving simple support issues,
for example working with clients, if needed, to help kick
start the relationship with their mentor (MicroMentor staff
is available to offer you guidance and support here).
- Work with MicroMentor staff to recruit volunteers from local
organizations (e.g., corporations, business networks, alumni
groups, etc.) and your organization's existing "professional
network" (volunteers, staff, supporters, etc.).
Costs Associated with Working with MicroMentor
- Staff time to get oriented with the MicroMentor program
in order to be internal ambassadors of the service is estimated
to be 2 - 3 hours.
- Staff time to promote MicroMentor to your clients, fellow
staff, and local organizations is estimated at around 1 -
2 hours per month (often informally).
- Staff time to provide assistance to enrolled clients is
estimated at around 1 hour per client per year. This time
varies depending on the technology savvy and "coachability"
of your clients. Many clients are completely self-directed,
however some need more hand-holding.
- While MicroMentor is currently provided at no direct financial
cost to you or your clients, please note that in the near
future, we plan to implement a fee-for-service plan. To ensure
that we are developing a workable solution, we are actively
seeking the input of our many stakeholders in shaping this
pricing plan, and we welcome discussions on this at any time.
