This privacy statement covers the site WWW.MICROMENTOR.ORG.
Because of the nature of the internet, MicroMentor cannot guarantee
or make claims for data collected by sites you may link to from
this site.
If users have questions or concerns regarding this
statement, they should first contact MicroMentor by emailing: Support@MicroMentor.org.
Information Collection and Ownership
MicroMentor is the sole owner of the information collected on
www.MicroMentor.org. MicroMentor collects information from our users
at several different points on our Web site.
Registration
In order to use this Web site to apply to participate in the MicroMentor
program, a user must first complete the application process. During
this process a user is required to provide us with contact, demographic
and business information (such as name and email address, gender
and ethnicity, and business industry and time in business). We use
this information to contact the user about services on our site
for which he/she has expressed interest.
Information Use
We collect contact, demographic and business information in
order to provide a mentor matching service and to facilitate virtual
mentoring. How MicroMentor uses information:
(a) To match you with either a mentor or a protégé.
Once a match is made, your name and the email address will be supplied
to the person you have been matched with.
(b) We will also use your contact information to contact you from
time to time, to check in regarding the mentoring process and to
let you know of important events at MicroMentor.
(c) We will use the information you give us (along with information
we collect during and after the mentoring process) to evaluate and
improve the program.
(d) We will also use non-identifiable, aggregate information to
guide our program efforts and report to funders and stakeholders.
(e) With your explicit permission we may use your details to promote
the program. You will be contacted before release of your information
and may withdraw this permission at any time.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to
information about the user. The MicroMentor site does not currently
use cookies.
Log Files
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files. This includes
internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service
provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp,
and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track
user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information
for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally
identifiable information.
Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)
Clear gifs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in
function to cookies, and are used to track the online movements
of Web users. The main difference between the two is that clear
gifs are invisible on the page and are much smaller, about the size
of the period at the end of this sentence. The MicroMentor site
does not currently use clear gifs.
Communications from the Site
Established members will occasionally receive information on MicroMentor
services, messages regarding participation in the program, and newsletters.
Members cannot opt out of these communications while they are participating
in the program. Members who have finished the program or no longer
wish to take part can opt-out of these mailings.
Customer Service
We communicate with users to provide requested services and in regards
to issues relating to their account. We reply via email, regular
mail or phone depending on the nature of the communication.
Sharing Information
Legal Disclaimer: Though we make every
effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal
information when required by law.
Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable)
We may share aggregated demographic information with our stakeholders.
This may include aggregated information about program participants,
their businesses and their participation in the program. This information
is not linked to any personally identifiable information.
These are the instances in which we will share
users' personal information:
In order to provide you with service we will pass on your name and
the email address you give us to the person you are matched with.
We will share contact information and program result information
with the protégé's community based organization that
may only use it for the purposes of facilitating this program and
evaluating the services they provide to the protégé.
Choice/Opt-in
By applying for the program, users opt-in to receiving communications
from MicroMentor. After participation in the program is complete,
users are given the opportunity to 'opt-out' of receiving further
communications by replying to Support@MicroMentor.org with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line. There may be up
to a 7 day delay in manually processed requests.
Links
This Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that
MicroMentor is not responsible for the privacy practices of such
other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave
our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web
site that collects personally identifiable information. This privacy
statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site.
Surveys & Contests
From time-to-time we request information from users via surveys.
The requested information may include contact information (such
as name and email address) or may be linked to your MicroMentor
account that already holds this information. Contact information
may be used to follow up on the survey. Survey information will
be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction
of this site and MicroMentor's programs. Users' personally identifiable
information is not shared with third parties unless we give prior
notice and choice. Though we may use an intermediary to conduct
these surveys, they may not use users' personally identifiable information
for any secondary purposes.
Tell-A-Friend
If a user refers a friend to us by informing us of their email address,
MicroMentor will send the friend a one-time email inviting them
to visit the site. MicroMentor stores this information for the sole
purpose of sending this one-time email and tracking the success
of our referral program. The friend may contact MicroMentor at Support@MicroMentor.org
to request the removal of this information from our database.
References
MicroMentor occasionally asks participants to submit references
to us before being accepted into the program. MicroMentor stores
this information for the sole purpose of conducting reference checks.
The reference may contact MicroMentor at Support@MicroMentor.org
to request the removal of this information from our database.
Security
This Web site takes precautions to protect our users' information.
Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job
(for example, a customer service representative) are granted access
to personally identifiable information. Furthermore, everyone on
the project is kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices.
Every year, as well as any time new policies are added; our entire
team is notified and reminded about the importance we place on privacy,
and what they can do to ensure our users' information is protected.
Finally, the servers that store personally identifiable information
are in a secure environment, behind a locked cage in a locked facility.
Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal
Information
If a user's personally identifiable information changes (such as
zip code, phone, email or postal address), or if a user no longer
desires our service, we provide a way to correct, update or delete/deactivate
users' personally identifiable information. This can be done by
emailing us at Support@MicroMentor.org.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes
to this privacy statement, and other places we deem appropriate
so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how
we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
We will use information in accordance with the privacy policy under
which the information was collected.
If, however, we are going to use users' personally identifiable
information in a manner different from that stated at the time of
collection we will notify users via email. Users will have a choice
as to whether or not we use their information in this different
manner. However, if users have opted out of all communication with
the site, or deleted/deactivated their account, then they will not
be contacted, nor will their personal information be used in this
new manner.

policy, please contact us at Support@MicroMentor.org. |
